SUMMARY:  Senior hands-on manager with extensive experience in software development, QA, release management and direction of offshore contractors.  Known for adding value by improving methods, processes, tools and documentation.

  • Manager,  mentor, leader
  • Applications design
  • ATE Expert
  • .NET and SQL Server
  • Communicator
  • Recognized industry authority

SW Contractor,  Verigy, Cupertino , Ca                    2010-2011

-        Developed custom C# controls that let end users develop GUI windows that integrate with Verigy C++ system SW

-        Designed/developed enhanced graphical C++ multisite shmoo utility

-        Developed multisite pin margin capability for improved device characterization

Test System SW Developer,  Advantest, Santa Clara, Ca                 2006-2009

-        Led development of ATE instrumentation SW using .NET technology.  Extensive GUI and C#/C++/.NET interop design..

Web Application Developer, CIG, Monterey, Ca                              2005-2006

-        Led development of ASP.NET, Oracle and SQL Server SW applications.

Organizer/Coordinator, IEEE Int’l Test Conference                       1991 – present

-        Manage ATE SW topics and all formal presentations for conference

Calibration/Diagnostic Manager, NPTest, San Jose, Ca,      2002 - 2003

-        Led group developing calibration, diagnostic and verification software for a new generation, open architecture test system.

-        When requirements changed, led group in transition from Unix to Windows with minimum schedule impact.

-        Improved software robustness by getting group to provide unit test cases as part of our product build.  This caught mistakes earlier, and improved efficiency.

-        Introduced Windows “.NET” technology, including C# for use as GUI builder.

Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Credence Systems Corporation, Fremont, CA       1993 –2001

-        Led and staffed department for the transition from a small craft-based development staff to a larger process-based organization, resulting in ISO certification.

-        Led transition to OO analysis and design, to improve quality and robustness of new software.

-        Directed local and offshore SW subcontractors, and delivered software that conformed to specifications on time and at significantly reduced cost.

-        Created, staffed and led Credence SQA department where none existed before.  Reduced SW defects by formalizing SW test before releases.

-        Introduced new process and configuration management tools, resulting in better individual productivity.

-        Developed modular build process, including media generation and installation procedure, resulting in a controlled and repeatable build that was sharable among a large staff of engineers.Led a team of 10 engineers to develop a radically new circuit test system, and proved the architecture by demonstrating the system in operation.

Technologist, Ando Corporation, Sunnyvale, CA                                            1986 – 1993

-        Developed X-windows graphic interfaces for ATE utilities on Unix workstations, and put in place methods for rapid SW implementation with low line count and few development resources.

-        Developed methods for the graphic display of textual test data, and eliminated the need for special graphic software development.

-        Led design/development of ATG SW and Ando “Andolab” products, which were instrumental in securing sales of Ando test equipment.

Software/Applications Manager, Schlumberger, San Jose, CA                      1983 – 1986

-        Managed development, maintenance of SW in addition to applications seminars.
